Hello all, we are making a couple of adjustments that will be taking place over the next 12 months
The first thing that we are going to change is the minor-league roster size. Previously, it was set to like 25 or something like that. We adjusted it to mirror the NFL practice squad roster size. We are going to keep the old roster size to give you guys a full year to transition and make cuts or call ups to get at or under the 16 player practice squad limit.
A change we are making to this off season is in regard to rookie contracts.
The minor league/practice squad call ups. We are no longer going to have a snap count threshold; it just seems too much. From now on, you are no longer going to force any call ups. From the time that you draft a player their rookie year you are not obligated to call anybody up. Starting on their second year in the league, you will automatically begin the year-to-year contracts with or without a salary. your contract years will be based from time of draft but salary will be based on service time.
For example Anthony Richardson was drafted this year 2023. You do not have to call him up this year. Starting 2024, he will be listed as y2y1. If you call him up then his salary is 500k if you choose to wait until his 2025 you will be y2y2 but his salary will be 500k. All contract will be y2y5 just
We understand that there are people who were previously drafted that are in the minors before this new draft class so what we are going to do is grandfather those guys for you meaning they will all start on y2y1, with no salary until promoted.
